Discover. Marvel. Linger. Encounter.
Centrally located in the historic city center, the award-winning building ensemble of imperial post office, ducal mint and modern functional building is impressive. The Kulturquartier combines the cultural history museum, the city library and regional archives. The Kultur-Café with garden terrace invites you to relax. Changing special exhibitions, thematic guided tours, museum educational programs and colorful events offer plenty of space for culture, encounters and inspiration.
The permanent exhibition takes visitors on a journey through 300 years of history of the state of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. As if in a treasure chamber, the numerous exhibits tell of the founding of the small duchy in 1701, the emergence of the Baroque planned town of Neustrelitz with its marketplace unique in Europe, life in the ducal palace and the diplomatic networks of the court.
The city library invites you to linger and browse through 30,000 current media. These include books, audio books, CDs, DVDs and games for young and old, as well as daily newspapers, magazines and much more. Digital media can be easily downloaded to your own mobile device via Onleihe. Tourists have the opportunity to use all library services with a vacation pass for €5.
Just one door down is the Karbe-Wagner Archive. Here, people interested in urban and cultural history can find out about regional history.
