The Haidhof climate forest covers an area of just under one hectare and is made up of red oaks, sweet chestnuts and hazel trees in combination with various woodland edge trees. At several planting events in the fall since 2011, guests and residents have been able to talk to foresters and forest campaigners about the climate forests on the Island of Rügen while enjoying children's games, campfires and wild sausages.
How to find the Haidhof climate forest
The reforestation area is located in the central western part of the Island of Rügen between the villages of Gingst and Dreschvitz. You can reach it via the L30. If you are coming from Dreschvitz in the direction of Gingst, turn right shortly before the village of Haidhof in the direction of Güttin. From here, follow the Plattenstraße to the new climate forest.
Forest shares for our climate forests
Since 2007, over 100 hectares of new, climate change-adapted forest have been planted at 19 different locations in all parts of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The reforestation of these additional areas was financed by "forest shares" from holidaymakers, residents and businesses. During planting campaigns for our climate forests, guests can talk to forestry experts and learn exciting details about the forest in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
