Shop regionally, sustainable

Numerous residents, guests and companies from the Rostock and Bützow area have been involved in the establishment of this future climate forest. Oak trees were planted here for the first time in the fall of 2010 on 2 hectares. The edge of the forest is mainly supplemented with wild fruit trees (apple, pear) and shrubs (rosehip, blackthorn and others).

How to find the Klimawald Bützow
The reforestation area is located south of Bützow. You can reach the area via the L 11 coming from Bützow approx. 500 m after leaving the town in the direction of Tarnow on the right-hand side. There is a parking area on the right-hand side of the road directly in front of the reforestation area on a forest path, another parking area is on the left-hand side of the road approx. 300 m after leaving the village. There, a thick pine tree marks the driveway to the parking lot.

Forest shares for our climate forests
Since 2007, more than 100 hectares of new, climate change-adapted forest have been planted at 19 different locations in all parts of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The reforestation of these additional areas was financed by "forest shares" from holidaymakers, residents and businesses. During planting campaigns for our climate forests, guests can talk to forestry experts and learn exciting details about the forest in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

    Parish Church of St. Mary

    • Markt, 18273 Güstrow

The Güstrow parish church stands on the market square in the immediate vicinity of the town hall. The first documented mention of the parish church dates back to 1308. After the fire in the center of Güstrow in 1503, which also destroyed the church, it was rebuilt and consecrated in 1508. When you enter the parish church, the first thing you see is the completely restored Jan Borman altar from 1522. This work of art, the ornate pulpit, the impressive organ and a small Barlach angel are already reasons enough to take a look around. But there is one very special highlight that you should not miss: 196 steps lead up to the 41 meter high observation deck of the highest building in Güstrow. A magnificent view over the city and Heidberge, the lakes and the meadows leaves many tourists amazed.
