The town museum Bergen auf Rügen is located in one of the carefully restored buildings of the former monastery courtyard.
In the exhibition on the first floor, visitors get an insight into the prehistory and early history of Rügen. From the Stone Age to the end of the Slavic period in 1168, when the main sanctuary on Arkona was destroyed and the Rugians were Christianized, the spectrum of this section extends.On the upper floor, from the time of the foundation of the monastery in 1193 to the middle of the 19th century, examples from the history of the town of Bergen, special events of the Swedish period and personalities of Rügen are presented.
