There are still numerous streets with their old houses that give an idea of life in the small town of Gadebusch in earlier times.
A small but impressive collection of objects in the exhibition rooms of our museum complex, located below the Renaissance castle, bears witness to this. Newly opened in 2006, the museum invites all guests from near and far to visit. The town's history is impressively presented in the lavishly renovated rooms. Numerous events and special exhibitions enrich the cultural life of the town and its surroundings. But what makes this museum so special? It is the contemplative, peaceful atmosphere that our guests prefer. This includes lingering under a bright blue sky in the museum courtyard with a wonderful view of the castle lake. The last battle of the Northern War, the Battle of Gadebusch in 1712, occupies a prominent place in the museum rooms. A diorama with around 800 pewter figures illustrates the battle of December 20, 1712 in Wakenstädt. The latest part of the permanent exhibition presents the history of the small town of Gadebusch during the GDR era. The "Art on the Burgsee" project, which extends from the museum complex along the Burgsee, is another tourist attraction with its variety of designs.town information: issuing brochures, maps, publications, information on excursion destinations in the region, events, hotel and guesthouse accommodation and vacation rooms.
