The town hall is the seat of the city administration and the tourist information.
The Warbel town of Gnoien, a small and beautiful agrarian town in the heart of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with about 3000 inhabitants, invites guests from the federal states as well as from all over the world.
The town of Gnoien is surrounded on three sides by the Warbel, a small picturesque river. Let yourself be inspired by a unique historical town center, listen to the centuries-old history and visit venerable witnesses of time such as the Gothic parish church St. Marien, the town hall in neo-Renaissance style, the Grand Ducal Office Building, the Imperial Post Office or the technical monument, the hundred-year-old water tower.
We invite you to stay, enjoy and relax in one of the most beautiful regions of our country, Mecklenburg Switzerland.
The town hall was rebuilt on the foundation walls of a previous building in the style of the New Renaissance in 1898. The first floor was given a plastered ashlar. Brick was used on the upper floor. After about 100 years, the house received a necessary refreshment and now shows itself as a jewel of the town. A coat of arms embellishes the front of the house.
Architectural style/building method: New Renaissance
At the market place there is not only the town hall, but also the oldest house in Gnoien: the former Gasthaus zur Börse. The parish church was already built in the 13th century. In the old town center, one encounters narrow cobblestone streets and restored residential and commercial buildings, a large part of which are listed as historical monuments. The windmill, located on the outskirts of town, houses a restaurant.
Former Grand Ducal District Court: In 1880, the building was built as a district court in neoclassical style. After 1945, refugees were given apartments here. After alterations, the rural ambulatory moved in in 1952. Since 1992, the Gnoien office has had its headquarters here. The two-story plaster building with a central risalit and two flat triangular gables has been restored.
Visitors to the Warbelstadt Gnoien can visit the town information center directly in the town hall building on the market square. Here you can get not only comprehensive advice and support, but also: information on leisure activities, gastronomy and accommodation, information material, guided tours and souvenirs of the city.
