City church Hagenow
The Hagenow town church was built in the years 1875 to 1879.In the 1970s, necessary construction measures were used for a transformation: In the former nave are now apartments, offices and other community rooms as the church functions the former choir room with crossing. Since then, the altar has been on the west side. Glass walls that can be opened separate the side aisles. In 1994, the Mecklenburg organ-building workshop Nußbücker built an organ equipped with 23 stops in the north gallery. Remains of a predecessor church can be found in the tower. The Romanesque baptismal fountain was recovered during the reconstruction work. Above it hangs a brass chandelier from 1742 from the previous churches. The Gothic altar was exchanged for bells before the reconstruction. The tower room has been converted into a neo-Gothic tower chapel and is open daily from Palm Sunday until the end of the year.
