n the center of the village stands the church with the largely preserved steeple from 1891. Today it houses the late Gothic "Qualzower Marienaltar" from the 15th century. On 16.01.1936 the first bomb fell on the village. Schillersdorf was almost completely destroyed in the course of the next years. Only the church tower remained, albeit badly damaged. The inhabitants were not allowed to resettle the area until 1946 after the Second World War. Schillersdorf was then completely rebuilt as a street village. The church center was built in 1952-1954, but the altar and memorial stone, as well as other objects removed from the village before 1936, often returned there only in recent years. The Schillersdorf altar has a special meaning. It was brought from Kratzeburg to Schillersdorf in 1640, after the inhabitants of Kratzeburg had died of the plague in the years before. In 1935 the altar was brought back to Kratzeburg to save it from destruction by the bombs. Thus it was returned to its original location, where it still stands today. In Schillersdorf now stands the "Qualzower Marienaltar", which was also kept in Kratzeburg and was brought back and restored only a few years ago. At its original location in Qualzow, no new church was built after 1946.
