A church through the ages.
A hundred years ago, when Maximilian Kaller had the Sacred Heart Church built, Garz was one of the most important agricultural centers on the island. Every Sunday, hundreds of Polish harvest workers, the reapers, attended the Catholic church service. But the rapid development of the island did not stop at the Garz church. Even after its expansion, the Binz church is regularly filled to capacity, while the Sacred Heart Church in Garz has become too large for its original purpose. Moreover, urgent renovation measures are pending that are not affordable for the few parishioners alone.
