Amid the extensive Mecklenburg Lake District, Mirow Castle is located in a romantic location on an island. Here, the castle, gate house, cavalier's house, remise, Church of Saint John and the surrounding landscape park combine to a unique testimony of almost 800 years of Mecklenburg's building and cultural history.
The history of the Duchy of Mecklenburg Strelitz is impressively depicted in the museum of the castle and in the exhibition of the 3-Königinnen-Palais. The Church of Saint John houses the crypt of the Dukes and the museum of the Order of St. John. 146 steps in the steeple have to be climbed before you can enjoy a fantastic view over the small town of Mirow. The reading café and the restaurant of the Old Castle Brewery have a lake terrace with a wonderful view of Lake Mirow.
