Castle complex with local history room and exhibition on fishing and regional history, tourist information, public Internet access, nationwide ticket service
The castle was built in the middle of the 13th century to protect the town "Wesenberge". As a result of the Thirty Years' War, today you can only explore the preserved torso of the keep, also called Fangelturm, and parts of the castle wall. Today the Fangelturm serves as a lookout tower. The premises of the castle are now used as a local history room with an exhibition on fishing and regional history, as a forestry museum and tourist information. As every year, on the 1st weekend in July, the traditional castle festival takes place with a historical parade, knight shows, dancing and fireworks.
