Bürgerpark Wismar is a beautiful park landscape with animals and a variety of recreational opportunities for locals and tourists. Flowers, sea and history meet in this place even after the 2002 state horticultural show.
In 1903, the citizens' park of the Hanseatic city was created in the Köppernitz valley. The continuation of this park was prepared until 2002 for the 1st State Garden Show of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. An approximately 2.5-kilometer-long circular path across the grounds has interesting stations in store for visitors, including pond biotopes with species-rich riparian vegetation. The observation tower is the dominant landmark. The top platform is 28 meters high. Stairs and intermediate platforms are freely routed around the central tower. In the center of the park is a paradise garden framed with over 200 Japanese flowering cherry trees with various garden themes. Water features and lily ponds round out the garden variety. With the city terrace and integrated lake stage, an attractive area is available for events. It is an ideal complement to the rest of the area for open-air events of all kinds. Up to 700 people can be seated here.
