The Brauhaus am Lohberg is located directly at the Old Port of Wismar. Today it is the only still active brewery in the Hanseatic city.
As early as 40 years before Columbus discovered America, the Brauhaus am Lohberg was built in Wismar in 1452. Wismar beer was a popular beverage throughout Europe. In Lübeck, Wismar beer was even banned from being served for a time. The Hanseatic wealth of Wismar is largely due to the brewing trade of the citizens. Of the more than 180 brewery inns that existed in Wismar in the 15th century, this one, located in the immediate vicinity of the harbor, is the only one that has survived.
Since 1995, several types of beer have been brewed here again according to the old Hanseatic tradition. In addition, rustic dishes are offered. Live music plays on Saturdays. For celebrations of any kind, the hop floor with its own tap connection and a capacity of 80 seats is available.
