With its 72 meters, the Schaalsee is the deepest lake in northern Germany. Many small shores around the lake invite you into the crystal clear water. The well-equipped bathing area in Zarrentin offers a slide, play facilities, a snack bar and a nostalgic bathing hut.
Because of its quiet location in the middle of the biosphere reserve and the rural region surrounding Zarrentin, the lido is popular with bathers who want to escape the hustle and bustle of large outdoor pools, even in midsummer weather. A nostalgic bathing house underlines the rural charm of the idyll on the southern shore of the Schaalsee. In addition to sufficient space on the sunbathing lawn, the well-maintained facility offers a playground located somewhat off the beaten path, which is nevertheless easily manageable.
The bathing beach is guarded in the afternoon during bathing weather. The outdoor pool is free of charge and open between June 15 and mid-September from Monday to Sunday 10 am - 7 pm.
Because of its four decades of seclusion as a restricted area of the inner-German border, several endangered animal and plant species have been able to preserve their natural habitat at Schaalsee. Therefore, bathing is only allowed at designated bathing areas.
