A guest in the idyll. Vacation close to nature in the biosphere Schaalsee
Near the Schaalsee, surrounded by fields and meadows, stands this cottage from the 19th century, which is protected as a monument. Once wage laborers lived where guests now enjoy the peace and quiet, managed the farm garden, a duck pond and a sheep paddock. We have carefully restored the house and furnished it with old furniture that it still gives guests an impression of work and life in earlier times. Bieberschwanzziegel on the roof, wooden beams, the clay plastered Wickelstakendecken are partly several hundred years old. The grounds measure 3,700 square feet, and the garden, enclosed with box, picket or wicker fencing, also features an earthen oven and a small barn. Perhaps it is the details that make this place, such as the reconstruction of the wooden gutter above the doors, the largely original features, the historic tiled stove, or perhaps the old, regional, peasant furniture that looks as if time has taken a break.
We leave no stone unturned to leave as small an ecological footprint as possible: Natural building materials such as clay and reused historical building materials were used, of course we separate waste, our industrial water is recycled in a biological treatment plant. A photovoltaic system hidden on the flat roof of the former barn supplies us with regenerative electricity; in addition, we only purchase green electricity. E-cars can draw power from a mobile charging station.
Situated in the Biosphere Reserve Schaalsee, the vacation apartment offers the greatest possible relaxation and is an ideal starting point for excursions into nature. The worth seeing Hanseatic Cities of Lübeck and Wismar, the State capital Schwerin are nearby, the unknown Baltic Sea beaches of the Klützer Winkel are not far.
