Sporty starts in the Jizera Mountains: the birthplace of the Neisse River offers pleasurable uphill and downhill rides with heavenly views. North of Frankfurt (Oder), the Neisse joins the Oder, whose dikes are equipped with wonderful bike paths. Shortly before the border with Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the bike path leaves the Oder, which pours into the Szczecin Lagoon on the Polish side.
Vorpommern welcomes its guests with seven idyllic lakes. Through the blooming meadows and rolling fields of the Randowbruch, the route continues to Krackow with its typical Western Pomeranian architecture. Löcknitz nestles dreamily in the quiet Randow valley, where only the gurgling of the river and the buzzing of bees break the silence. Guarded by a thousand-year-old oak tree, Lake Löcknitz invites you to take a refreshing dip.
Near Glashütte begins the Ueckermünder Heide - a green sea whose pleasant scent of forest and water clears the lungs. The small town of the same name, Ueckermünde, captivates with the charm of its Renaissance castle and its lively harbor. Directly along the water, accompanied by numerous waterfowl, the bike path leads to the Lilienthal town of Anklam. An impressive bascule bridge connects the town with the Island of Usedom. Enchanting bays, rolling hills and blooming rape fields characterize the island's unspoiled hinterland. The seaside resort of Ahlbeck, the destination of this trip, is one of the imperial resorts. These present themselves in finest resort architecture, with wide promenade, villas of the golden age, filigree piers and miles of dream beaches.
Route characteristics:
In Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Oder-Neisse Cycle Path runs mainly on paved cycle paths and quiet country roads. Only rarely does it run along moderately busy roads. Particularly near the coast, there are some sections with poorer traffic, e.g. in the form of unpaved forest and field paths.
The Oder-Neisse Cycle Path is signposted almost throughout, but not always consistently.

Current note: In recent weeks, a fish kill was observed in the Oder River, the causes of which are currently still being investigated. In the meantime, however, the water quality in the Oder has improved significantly. There is no longer an acute danger situation. The general orders restricting use have therefore been lifted with immediate effect by all districts and the city of Frankfurt (Oder).
The cycle path is open and can be used. The Neiße was not affected by the fish kill.
