At Ellbogensee, cyclists cross the border into Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. A mosaic of 320 lakes with hidden bathing spots and picturesque picnic areas tempts you to unwind. Queen of the lakes is the Müritz. It gave its name to the adjacent national park. A paradise where pine heaths alternate with ancient beech groves and sparse alder swamps. Alone 800 butterfly and 260 bird species live here - bitterns, ospreys, storks and cranes. In spring and autumn, the cackling of 50,000 wild geese can be heard. In the harbor of Waren (Müritz), small ships rock on the waves of Germany's largest inland lake. Ideal for finding a cozy spot in one of the numerous cafés.

Near Jabel, the large forests of the Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heath Nature Park begin. You can cycle comfortably in the shade of fragrant pines and take a wonderful swim in Lake Drewitz or Lake Krakow. The cyclists cross the crystal-clear Nebel River, which forces its way through a narrow valley near Serrahn.

Fieldstone churches, mounds and stone tombs invite you to travel back in time at Alt Sammit and Bellin. The residential town of Güstrow combines architectural styles from many centuries - from brick Gothic to Classicism. Not far away is the goose town of Bützow, whose alleys tempt you to stroll. As a green meadow river, the Warnow welcomes all cyclists here and then accompanies them to the Baltic Sea.

Even in ancient times, the sublime scenery of Rostock warmed the hearts of rough sailors. Three monumental brick churches tower over the Hanseatic city. After a short ferry ride across the Baltic Sea, the journey continues through Denmark's picture-perfect south. The crowning glory of the trip is Copenhagen, with its blend of tradition and cosmopolitanism.

Route characteristics:
The route runs in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern mainly on paved cycle paths, quiet side roads or farm tracks. Occasionally there are still smaller passages with cobblestones and concrete tracks.

The long-distance cycle route is signposted throughout the Mecklenburg section and marked with the logo of the Berlin-Copenhagen Cycle Route.
