The journey around the "little sea", the Müritz, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful experiences for every bike and nature enthusiast. It begins in Waren (Müritz) and after a few kilometers leads into the paradisiacal solitude of the Müritz National Park. The rustic forests, enchanted moors and crystal clear lakes on the eastern shore resemble a wildly romantic Garden of Eden. Cranes, deer and sea eagles are its unrestricted rulers.
In Federow, a video camera allows a glimpse into the eyrie of an eagle family. On the southern shore of the Müritz, the cycling vacationers reach Rechlin. The narrow southern runners of the Müritz jut into the wooded hills like fjords. The tour leads to the west coast of Germany's largest inland lake and then directly along the water. Where the reed forests open up, you'll encounter picturesque villages, creaky boathouses and dreamy swimming spots, but the quiet peninsula of Großer Schwerin is reserved for the birds. Here, cranes, wild geese and coots set the tone.
Only a few kilometers further lies the vacation resort of Röbel/Müritz. Daring stair climbers should not miss the view from the 58-meter-high steeple of St. Mary's Church. The water paradise stretches to the horizon. The route then continues along the hilly shore. On the isthmus between Müritz and Kölpinsee rises the neo-Renaissance Klink Castle. In the evening, the cyclists return to the promenade of Waren (Müritz), where they can enjoy a romantic evening stroll along the town harbor with its numerous bars and restaurants.
