The peninsula between the Bodden and the sea is a construction site of nature. The National Park of Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft protects this marvel of nature, characterized by fine sandy beaches on one side and high reed belts on the other. On the western beach, the sea is impetuous and piles up its sandy spoils again on the northern tip. The Darß forest rushes between the wildly romantic coast and the gentle Bodden. The cycle path winds directly along the Bodden, through the fishing villages of Born and Wieck, past reed islands and Zeesen boats. At Prerow, the beach, which can be up to 80 meters wide, beckons. The dike path to Zingst tempts you to swim again and again.

Over 100 species of birds have made Zingst the largest resting place in Central Europe. In spring and autumn, cyclists can admire the spectacle of the cranes in many places between Barth and Stralsund. From the lookout tower Barhöft you can marvel at the unique water world from above. Stralsund, a man-made gem, greets you on the horizon.

In the quiet hinterland of the once mighty Hanseatic metropolis, fields, meadows and streams dominate the landscape. The widely scattered villages are often adorned with ancient churches and stately manor houses. In Schlemmin and Semlow, castles shine like fairy tales in the midst of beautiful parks. Soon the graceful little river Recknitz crosses the way. On the other side lies Marlow - famous for its bird park with its many species.

In countless loops, the renaturalized Recknitz winds through an unspoiled valley. The entire lower Recknitz valley is under strict nature protection. The cyclists follow the border river between Mecklenburg and Vorpommern until it flows into the Bodden before Ribnitz-Damgarten.
