Three representative brick churches in Rostock compete with colorful gabled houses and set the mood for a journey to witnesses of the impressive architecture of the Middle Ages. A few kilometers away lies the traditional seaside resort of Warnemünde. Its maritime flair invites you to take a first rest. Beyond the Warnow River stretches the green sea of the Rostock Heath. Already from a distance the brick tower of St. Marien welcomes the guests of the amber town Ribnitz-Damgarten.

The second stage leads along the Bodden waters between the idyllic Fischland-Darß-Zingst Peninsula and the mainland. A visit to the Vineta town of Barth provides a change of pace. From the church tower in Barth you have a magnificent view of the unique bird paradise of the National Park of Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft. In the distance, the silhouette of Stralsund appears. With its three monumental brick churches, the old Hanseatic city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

On the way to Greifswald, cyclists enjoy the wide view of the flat countryside before reaching another highlight of the journey. Three handsome medieval churches loom unmistakably over the Hanseatic City of Greifswald. Outside the city, the ruins of the Eldena Monastery, which was a favorite motif of the painter Casper David Friedrich, are a dream.

The idyllic valleys of Trebel and Recknitz offer a variety of opportunities for nature observation as you continue on your way. On the Recknitz lies Bad Sülze - the oldest moor and brine bath in northern Germany - which once supplied all of Mecklenburg with table salt. Lush meadows, shady forests and small lakes characterize the last kilometers.
