By train to the Baltic Sea coast, by bike to the Island of Rügen or rather by bus to the countryside? The versatile transport system in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern offers countless possibilities and thus the best conditions for a relaxed journey in the spirit of sustainability.

Those who want to travel in a particularly environmentally conscious manner can even reach the state via one of the nine Radfernwege . For fuel-free discovery tours, there are also a large number of charging stations that can be used by the public, as well as car-sharing and rental offers for electric cars.

Many towns and regions are also coming up with ways to ensure that their guests can be both comfortably mobile and climate-friendly at the same time: In addition to buses and trains, rental bicycles as well as e-bikes and e-scooters are available in the cities. In addition, public transportation takes passengers directly to the most beautiful biking and hiking trails.

Why not turn the journey into a vacation? If you like pedaling, you can reach Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in a relaxed and natural way by bike. Numerous long-distance cycle paths connect neighboring federal states with our vacation region and take you through charming landscapes, along rivers and lakes and through charming villages before you finally reach the Baltic Sea coast, the Mecklenburg Lake District or the vast forests of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Whether from Berlin on the Berlin–Usedom long-distance cycle path, along the Elbe Elbe cycle path or on the Baltic Sea coastal cycle path – you have many opportunities to discover the country on two wheels. Arrival by train

The well-developed rail network guarantees a climate-conscious and comfortable journey by train. The long-distance trains already take our passengers to their destination using 100 percent renewable energy - with a focus on service and comfort. Use the family area, have your luggage transported or conveniently take your bike with you. Particularly practical: many hosts also offer a pick-up service.

Nature as a destination

You can reach sensitive conservation areas such as the Elbe River Landscape Biosphere Reserve, the Müritz National Park, the Jasmund National Park and the Südost-Rügen Biosphere Reserve through the cooperation "Fahrtziel Natur". It combines climate-friendly rail travel directly with environmentally conscious mobility concepts on site and thus enables relaxed nature experiences in terms of sustainable tourism development.

Travel to the islands of Rügen, Hiddensee and Usedom

Rügen: From the Hanseatic city of Stralsund, you can reach the towns of Bergen and Sassnitz and the Baltic seaside resort of Binz every hour. Connecting trains run from Bergen to Putbus and Lauterbach.

Hiddensee: A ferry takes you to Hiddensee from the ferry port in Stralsund and from the island of Rügen. For the journey to the island, you will receive a DB ticket for the entire route including ferries for many connections.

Usedom: Holidaymakers can reach the island of Usedom via Berlin - Züssow or via Hamburg - Stralsund with a connection to the Usedomer Bäderbahn. To the Usedomer Bäderbahn website.

Special offers from Deutsche Bahn for travel to MV

Children between the ages of 6 and 14 can travel free of charge on many train services. To do this, the accompanying children must be entered on the ticket before departure. Children under the age of 6 always travel free of charge and do not need a ticket. Find out more

If you would like to take your bike with you, you can purchase a bike ticket in the local trains. This is then valid for the whole day. Bicycles can also be accommodated on most long-distance trains. Find out more about bicycle transport.

E-mobility

If, on the other hand, you decide to go on a fuel-free trip, there are numerous car-sharing and rental offers for electric cars in MV - for example the Mobi-Hub at Anklam train station. In addition to electric cars, rail travelers can also rent pedelecs, cargo bikes and bicycle trailers here. The attractive locations of the charging points make it possible to take a walk along the Baltic Sea, visit places of interest or charge at your own host's home. Arrival by bus

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is connected to Germany's cities and regions via numerous bus connections. The journey is inexpensive and the CO2 emissions per passenger are lower than by car. If you want to travel in a completely climate-neutral way, many companies offer the option of calculating the greenhouse gas emissions of your trip when you book and offsetting them accordingly. Roads from Germany and abroad lead to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern from all directions. The well-developed federal and state roads, the A20 Baltic Sea freeway with its connection to the A1 near Lübeck and the direct connection to the Berlin ring road via the Uckermark triangle - past impressive scenery - lead quickly to your vacation destination.

Travel by boat - routes to the blue paradise

The three federal states of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Brandenburg and Berlin combine to form Europe's largest network of waterways, which can be reached from all directions. Cycling

The key to a sustainable all-round experience is the travel pass in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It enables free or particularly inexpensive use of local public transport. It often also offers admission to the most beautiful sights and information on the region's tourist highlights.

  • Müritz-Rundum

Take a bus to the Müritz National Park in the morning, walk along a moorland path, go on a kayak tour over still waters, take a carriage ride through a wildlife park and return by excursion boat.   • Rostock Card

Take the train to the beach, visit one of Rostock's museums or take a guided tour through the historic old town: The RostockCARD is the Hanseatic city's culture, adventure and local transport ticket and offers all-year-round benefits in Rostock and the region.

  • Schwerin-Ticket

With the Schwerin-Ticket, you can explore the state capital inexpensively and without a car. Not only do you get free travel on buses, trams and the Pfaffenteichfähre public transport system in Schwerin, you also benefit from discounts of up to 100% on the regular admission price.

  • UsedomCard

After paying the visitor's tax, every guest of Kaiserbäder receives their UsedomCard. It serves as a ticket for the entire UBB regional bus network - both on the island of Usedom and in the city of Wolgast as well as between Wolgast and Lubmin. It can also be used for maritime excursions to the island's highlights.

  • "Bus free" in Südostrügen
  • Discover the Baltic Sea resorts of Sellin, Baabe and Göhren as well as the municipality of Mönchgut, comfortably and environmentally friendly with the offer „Bus free – free mobile with spa card“.     In the Mönchgut-Granitz vacation region, bus, train and boat services are now even better coordinated. The "free ticket"  can be used by spa card holders* in the municipalities of Mönchgut, Göhren, Baabe and Sellin. Included means of transport are the ships of the White Fleet, BUSkam in the Ostseebad Göhren, the local bus in the Osteebad Sellin, the Bäderbahn in Baabe & Sellin and the regular bus Mönchgut-Granitz.
