Hardly any city in Germany has such a huge forest area as Rostock with the "Rostock Heath". Don't immediately think of the Lüneburg Heath, you won't find heather here. If you take a deep sniff, you will smell the mix of forest and sea air and look forward to the ride along shady forest paths through Germany's largest coastal forest. The tour consists of asphalt, forest paths, paths with gravel and water-bound cover. From Graal-Müritz, the tour heads to Klockenhagen - a place with Mecklenburg tradition and history.
The next stop is Gelbensande. The hunting lodge, which served as a summer residence for Mecklenburg grand dukes for a long time, stands magnificently in the middle of the forest. A little insider tip is Meyers Hausstelle. As a former customs station and forestry yard, a forest café with a beer garden and a small restaurant awaits its guests today.
A few kilometers further on, the typical smell of wood tar from the historic tar smelter at the Wiethagen forestry and charcoal yard welcomes its guests. There starts the discovery trail "Biological Diversity" suitable for all. The 2.8 km long circular trail with ten stations can be extended by eight kilometers to the Baltic Sea and then offers another five stations.
